Komono. A stylish leather watch for under R1000

Leather. It's something you used to see your grandad wear all the time, something you thought was meant for old fuddy duddys. I was never really into leather until Elle brainwashed me, well if you call showing me a briefcase made of quality leather brainwashing and making me fall in love with it..

These days, I can't get enough of leather. Leather watches, shoes, bags, jackets. I just love the feel, the soft and smooth surface, the smell that leather gives off, there's nothing else like it. And please don't even get me started on faux leather, let's not even go there. Faux leather just brakes. Period.

I've been on the hunt for a quality leather watch for under R1000, harder said than done. Okay, so there are those el cheapo faux leather watches at China Town, but do I really want that? And how long would that last anyway? I narrowed down my search between the Nixon Sentry watch and the Komono Magnus, both looking very dapper but both with different prices, and both over R1000. The Nixon was R1500 for the cheapest one and the Komono was R1299. And so I waited...

But wait, Superbalist had a massive SALE. Did you hear sale? Heck yes! The Komono was now R799 and well within my reach, but wait, it gets even better, I had a R250 coupon for Superbalist so I applied that and after shipping costs the watch came to just shy of R600. Fantastic. I know.

What can I say about this watch, other than it's a handsome piece of art. Seriously though, I love the design and the oversized dial. It helps to have a nice big watch when you get older. The leather isn't the best of quality, but Komono made up for that in the small details on the strap, the logo and the engraving under the strap is too cool. Details like this make me go wow, they really put effort into this. The movement is Japanese Quartz, so it's not going to bugger out on you within the first month. Which is always a winner. And the cherry on top? It's water resistant up to 30 metres and the strap is interchangeable, just in case you get bored of it, I don't see that happening though.

The more I wear this watch, the more I fall in love with it. It goes really well with my new Colony wallet too. Chuffed, I am.
