I've been nominated for a Liebster award

I've never heard of the Liebster award

Okay, so honestly, I've never heard of this Liebster award until I got nominated recently. I did a bit of Googling and found out what it is. I'm not going to bore you with the low down, instead you can read more about it on the travelmanuel blog (the lovely couple who nominated me). If you want a quick answer though, the Liebster award is a way of sharing new and interesting blogs with the world. It's working. I'm already in love with the Travel Manuel travel blog now. Well done you two. Very inspirational blog, I love the photos on there as well. It makes me want to pack up all my belongings and just go travel. Cue serious Wanderlust right now.

Thank you again to travelmanuel.com for the nomination. It means a lot that there are people reading my blog :)

11 QUESTIONS FROM Travel Manuel:

1 - Hotels, hostels or tents?

Wow. This is a tough one. I love camping. I love staying at Hostels purely because of the awesome people that you meet and I love Hotels, just because sometimes you want to feel like a king. If I had to choose, I'd probably say Hostels cos they're so much fun and I'm a pretty social person.

2 - Your top two most essential travel items (excluding your passports)?

My camera and my iPhone. Google maps really comes in handy!

3 - Where’s your hometown and what’s the best thing about it?

My hometown is Johannesburg. The best thing about it are the people. Nowhere else will you meet a random person and be invited to a braai (South Africas version of a barbeque).

4 - What is a typical day like for you (travelling or not)?

A morning flat white, work work work, and maybe some gym. Really not eventful ha ha.

5 - Why do you travel?

Travelling is good for the soul, it adds to your experience and changes your view on the world. Oh, and I love eating new food from different corners of the globe.

6 - What is one of the best travel lessons you’ve learnt so far?

Expect the unexpected. Be ready for anything and try to experience the place like a local.

7 - If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?

Holland. Even though I've never been there. I support the soccer team and I love cycling, so I'd fit right in. The country looks beautiful too, so that doesn't hurt.

8 - What was one of the most unusual experiences you’ve encountered?

When I visited Taiwan, I went to the hot springs in the mountains close to Taipei with family. I'm used to hot springs back in Johannesburg, where everyone wears swimming trunks. In Taiwan (most of Asia actually) you go into the hotsprings naked. This was a very surreal experience, I was a bit shy at first, but after a while I got into it and was walking around like a local to various different springs.

9 - Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging as a way to share stories about my life in Cape Town. I moved from Johannesburg, where I was born and grew up.

10 - What’s your preferred mode of transportation?

Bicycle!

11 - What’s your next travel destination?

Thailand. We're planning a trip to Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi. I'm most excited to travel around to the various small islands close to Krabi. I love being in water, snorkelling, scuba diving. Anything related to water actually :)

I Nominate City Girl Searching for a Liebser award.

There aren't too many new blogs that I follow, most of them are already established. But the one that I did want to share belongs to Roxy Hutton from citygirlsearching.com. Her travel stories and photos are just wonderful.

@Roxy, you can answer the same questions that I was asked :)
