3 places to eat on a Monday in Cape Town
Pic taken from mblife.co.za
Mondays are usually the worst days, the weekend is over and we're just getting back to work. But it shouldn't be, there's a lot of great restaurants offering Monday specials in the Mother City. And without further ado, here are my top 3 places to eat on a Monday night in Cape Town.
Number 1: The Odyssey Gastro Pub
The Odyssey pub feels old school, with it's wooden trimmings and funky vibe. This is one of my favourite Monday night eats, not just because it's close to my work, but because they have awesome burgers and beer. Monday nights are great, you get 2 burgers for R100 including chips. They do sometimes get busy, so try get there early, order a round of beers and some zucchini fries (goes down so well, you'll probably want more!). I'm sure that's more than enough info, but if that's not enough, let me tell you a bit about their delicious burgers (channels inner Marshall from How I Met Your Mother). Imagine a juicy medium rare beef patty with tomato relish, cheddar cheese, just the best jalapeno sandwiched between 2 crispy but soft seeded rolls. Okay, this is making me hungry. I'm off to get burgers... but seriously, do yourself a favour and try this place out.
You can usually get a table during the weeknights, but rather make a booking at theodyssey.co.za
Number 2: Tigers Milk
Tigers Milk has to be one of my favourite new restaurants, okay, the joint is a bit far (Muizenberg), but it's worth it. Tigers Milk was opened a little while ago by the guys who brought us Paulaner. They have delicious grub (and good beer too!) in a super cool restaurant. On Mondays... oh Mondays... they have a 2 burger special for R80! Tigers Milk will be opening up in Long street, Cape Town in June. Until then, I'll leave the Muizies special to the local surfer dudes and dudettes who live there.
Check out more of their great food or book a table with them over at tigersmilk.co.za (how awesome is their name by the way!)
Number 3: HQ Steak House
HQ is a bit more than a steak house, they offer Tapas and some incredible wine with a very cool and funky vibe. They have top class service, but the creme de la creme of this place is the Monday 2 for 1 Steak special. You get a salad, unlimited chips and a sirloin steak, any meat lover would be proud of. What makes HQ very special, is the cafe de paris butter sauce they serve with the steak. It's incredibly good.
